Hertfordshire quartet Lower Than Atlantis are ready to take on all-comers. With a year under their belts that has seen the young band ascend from UK underground scene obscurity to mainstream radio and TV exposure, high profile tours and plastered across all manner of end of year lists in the national music press thanks to their critically lauded debut album ‘Far Q’ and rabble rousing live show, Lower Than Atlantis stand at the start of 2011 in great shape, hotly tipped as one the breakthrough names for the 12 months ahead.
To aid and abet their push onwards and upwards, the ambitious foursome come armed with second album ‘World Record’ (to be released April 4, 2011), a prolific assembly of colossal hooks and kinetically charged guitars loaded into larger than life songs that effortlessly thread a line between acerbic, punk infused rock and irresistible pop savvy, cranking each element of what made their debut a hit with fans and critics alike into overdrive.
Switching from uplifting pop rock on tracks such as first single ‘Beech Like The Tree’ (to be released February 14, 2011) and life-on-the-road anthem ‘(Motor)Way Of Life’ to the razor sharp punk attack of ‘Marilyn’s Mansion’ and ‘Bug’ to the soaring melancholy of ‘Uni 9mm’ and the sincerely affecting ‘Another Sad Song’ without once breaking stride or losing its way, ‘World Record’ is truly an album of light and shade, its heady dynamics and insightful lyricism offering an immersive and infectious journey.
Recorded at Outhouse Studios in Reading, UK (You Me At Six, Enter Shikari, Architects, The Blackout), ‘World Record’ will be released on April 4, 2011 on Wolf At Your Door Records, preceded by the singles ‘Beech Like The Tree’ – already named “Hottest Record In The World” on Zane Lowe’s influential Radio 1 show – on February 14 and ‘Deadliest Catch’ on March 28.
